I’m Cassandra Cassibo, a small-town girl, cosplayer and sometimes a photographer.
I have a diploma in Broadcasting and Film from Centennial College which gave me the knowledge of framing, videography, photography and storytelling. From there I entered Niagara College where I’m currently studying Public Relations in their Public Relations Graduate Certificate Program.
That’s not what you’re here for, though, you want to know what makes me qualified to talk about cosplay.
I’ve always had an interest in anime, TV, video games, movies, pop culture, and comics. Which inevitably led me to discover cosplay. The first cosplays I had ever seen were at the 2008 Anime North convention up in Toronto. The first cosplay I had ever worn (where I knew it was a cosplay) was Ino Yamanaka from Naruto that my mother had made for me. A new world opened to me that weekend. A world that led me to making some lasting friendships and strengthening ones I already had. From that point I’ve made it a goal to always attend Anime North year after year, wearing cosplays each time.
Fast forward a few years, I’ve been on the convention scene going to all different conventions in different cities and have even been making my own cosplays now. While my list is short each cosplay has taught me something new, something that would be of help to others. I’ve even had the delight of learning that each convention is unique. They all have something that’s specific to them that makes people want to go to them.
If you wish to get in contact with me here’s a few ways:
